This guy had his macbook stolen from his apartment. Using an app called 'Hidden' he took pics of the guy and posted them to a tumblr page. After it got so much attention police got involved. They knew the guy was a cab driver from the app used to spy on him, and tricked him into picking them up. The link is the Tumblr page with the photos.

Does that program need the user to be logged in? I've read a few stories about that gobshite but no1 has pointed out if it works without access to the users stuff. My laptop and my eee have a relatively decent password and encrypted home partitions so logging in won't work. Apparently some lenevo laptops actually have a similar software built into their BIOS's so that even if the machine is formatted it can phone home.

...although on second thoughts a chinese laptop that phones home might not be the wisest thing
