I'll look into the mod.. just give me a little time. I'm busy at the mo with real life but I will add it. Images in the form of attachments get thumbed down but I guess your wallpapers are posted as imageshack or other picture URLs.

EDIT: I tried on this but the style template doesn't hack it like the default one does.

How would increasing the attachment size and auto thumbing pictures help?

There... save the bloody file off the web onto your machine and then add it to a message as an attachment. Automatically gets thumbed so you can click it. Original file and resolution retained. What more do you want?
