If you are thinking about 64bit check out your hardware and see if they have 64bit drivers. It's worth going to 64bit especially if you are thinking of getting lots of RAM.

I ran the Windows Compatabilty thingy and it all looks ok to run 64bit.

How much RAM would I really want though to properly run 64bit? Would hate to install it and then realise it's really slow!

My machine has 4 gigs and it runs with 1.2-1.4gig used with nothing but windows running. So 2 would probably work but as always more is better. If I remember right my vista 64 install was using about 0.3-0.4 gigs more.

The good thing with 64bit is you can use more memory. Due to 32bit limitations you can only address upto 3gb. Going 64bit gives you more room to add more if needed. I got a hold of 4gb when I upgraded. I'm still on XP at the moment and using about 1gb when booted.. FF and Mediaportal rape about 500mb but still leaves a nice amount for gaming.

Dunno Lazy, I find 64-bit Win7 only makes sense if you have more than 3GB ram.. haven't found any other real benefits for not using 32-bit. Plus even though the compatibility is extremely good, it's not 100% yet so I wouldn't say it's worth the trouble yet in your case.

My System with 4Gigs and Win7 64-bit:
Multi-Messenger: 19MB
Skype: 27MB
Firefox: 88MB
System with only AntiVirus running: 950MB
I mean, it's all windy stairs. I'm not being funny.
