Well I've just upgraded just about everything in my PC. I spent a long time deciding what to buy and checking stuff is compatable and suitable. I concluded my case would be fine for all the new bits....though a bit more crowded than the elegant water cooled setup I had.

But ain't life a bitch, those stupid bits on the CPU cooler stick out just too far to get the cover back on!

Still, everything is working apart from a HDD that arrived dead.

I know that feeling m.tt. Although I was a little lucky in my case. The HSF fitted with about 5mm clearance.

Looks like your goign to have to get involved with a bit of case modding dude. I'm pretty sure that if you check forums there will be loads of sugegstions about how to deal with that. Be a nice Christmas project for you

My ultra 120 just fits in my antec 900, means i can't put a fan on the window panel either.
I spy another ultra mtt

how are the temps for you?

With the fanmate thing that comes with it it's unaudiable when it's turned to low RPM.

Haven't paid much attention to temps yet (apart from checking it's working happily) as everything is still at stock speed. But Gigabytes own little guide gets 4GHz out of the i7 920 with their extreme motherboard.......but I'm hoping I can get close with my lesser motherboard.

So unless I kill everything I'll have to report back in a few weeks how it goes.

Looks as though you could just drill out holes in the side panel where the heatpipes are, might even look cool with them poking out the side.

I considered that but the cover has to slide about 2cm sideways to secure it in place or remove it. So I'd need big wide holes.

I've decided unless I see a good priced case I love I might just make a wooden frame and stuff everything in like one of those free-air testing cases...but wooden. Everyone loves a fire hazard.

Of course something like that is US $90 from the maker, but £90 + postage from a UK site!!

So I looked around for a while and saw no cases I liked at a price I liked.

So here is my DIY solution for now.

Everyone loves a fire hazard! Though I did want a nice open case for when I get round to seeing how fast my i7 will go.

Plus my extra/replacement hard drive arrived from scan after a month. So finally have Raid 0 going.
