Like Lazy, I'm a man about quality for my audio. Far from an Audiophile, but an Audio Enthusiast for what it's worth :) I was in the market a while back for some "jack of all trades" headphones. I had some Senheiser HD515's, which had nice treble, but everything else was kind of flat, not to mention they were physically huge, open-air and pretty ugly looking. Got a pair of (White)Audio Technica ATH-ES55's. Much more suited to my iPod listening and less on the gaming, but I'll admit I was a little disappointed with the sound quality. Might be because I much prefer a more crisp, sharp sound in my music, but other than the slightly muffled treble, everything else was top-notch. Very iPod suited headphones though.

My next investment is hopefully to be another open-air pair of Audio Technica ATH-AD700's. From what I hear (hohoho) they might be just what I'm looking for in terms of headphones to keep at home.

I mainly scrounged around:
http://www.headphoneworld.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
and http://www.amazon.co.uk/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
but some of the others around are likely have better sites than that.

Happy hunting Bowzie, hope you get what you're looking for.

this is generally agreed to be the audiophiles forum of choice, though most of them are listening to headphones built by themselves for 500 or so dollars. I don't like overear headphones my self so i'm not much help here.

Medusa's are well known for being great headsets, while they work, which is pretty much until you take it out of the packaging.

Sennheisers are great all rounders, I personally have a set of PC 350's

I bought mine from play, they are quite pricey, but come with a 2 year warrenty, I did send my first set back after about a month, during a game of L4D, the left earpiece made a pop sound, and from then nothing came from it. That was down to me having my PC turned up too loud (which i didnt tell them).
First year of the warrenty is done through whomever you made the purchase from, 2nd year from sennheiser themselves.

This second set are over a year old now, no faults.
