Gimmick-Schmimmick, no one is going to buy LFD2 because of the hat, it's just a bonus.. better than getting nothing anyways.

It's probably, together with the Halloween event, just part of Valve's big plan to reduce the exclusivity of hats without making the ones that were in the game before any less rare. I think there will be a lot more of these type of events happening in the future for new games (from the same developer team) and certain holidays.

I wouldn't be so hard on valve for this somewhat cheap marketing stategy,sure with all the free custom content they kind of deserve all the money they can get

Well, I planned on pre-ordering any way... this doesn't change my decision but if I wasn't previously going to pre-order, it wouldn't change my decision then either!

Well my hat is cheap as it came in the 4 pack.... but it's still pretty worthless!
