Left 4 Dead 2
Left 4 Dead 2
So what do you think? After a little time sitting at the PC itching to play. We finally managed it.
Firstly, it's pretty. Very pretty. Daylight does have an appealing twist to the zombie mashing. You get a 2 stage map called The Parish to wonder around. Weapons are abundant whereas ammo piles are not. This leaves you needing to pick up other weapons in order to continue the carnage.
The new infected are entertaining especially the jockey....

Hmmm, so do you reckon it's worth the purchase?
I have to say that I've always enjoyed being a zombie a lot more than being a survivor, so I might wait for the full game to come out.

After walking out of Don's left4dead game to play the demo (unfortunate timing), I promised I would post my impressions.
First of all, I have to agree with BBloke, the change in atmosphere is refreshing, if not even more creepy. Newly skinned zombies look like they belong in the picture, lots of shorts and shirts and even some hawaii shirts.
There is a particular where you enter what looks like a CEDA containment camp and it becomes clear that they were ill equipped to handle the situation. Not just a barn or a small pier, but a full blown evac center that is overrun. The scenery is in such a way that it feels more expansive and the crisis more global. No more remote tunnels, warehouses and such, but streets and highways.
Small touches like the departure of the boat captain at the beginning and overhead flying fighterjets add something else into the mix. You have the feeling you are not alone. Instead of having a single brave helicopterpilot or some apcs, you get the impression the military is still functioning and working to contain whatever happened. Failing at it probably, but still.
Weapons look like a mix between what the developer wanted and what the 13yo fanboys wanted. Silenced SMGs, AK-47s and boomerbile grenades make the selection more diverse, but I cannot shake the feeling that they feel out of place. One addition that I really like is that of the defibrillators. It replaces your medkit, but it allows you to revive one dead teammate (dead as in third time down dead). Adrenaline shots replace the pills, and allow you to speed up some actions like reviving.
And finally last, but not least, the melee weapons. These are a great lot of fun. At one point, the whole team got their hands on them and we spent the whole way to the saferoom bashing in skulls. Melee weapons are the things that will safe your life when you are cornered and out of ammo. You cannot carry a pistol while having it, but the pistol will still be there when you get incapacitated.
The demo is lots of fun, if not too short for my taste. There are just two acts of one chapter available and only two gamemodes (singleplayer and campaign). But I'm sure it won't be long till someone figures out how to play infected. Most of the weapons are included (some old, some new) and all the new infected.

Knowing how you play and scream like a girl you'll love it.LazyEagle wrote:Hmmm, so do you reckon it's worth the purchase?

Kaesis covers the game very well overall. There is a significant sense of size and scale. Zombie movements are less predictable and more intense. Hordes seem to come from more directions than just one giving the players more to think about. With the addition of the Charger, Jockey and Spitter it only means more fun.

Re: Left 4 Dead 2
Day light has def improved the game in a big way its nice to be able to see a charger running straight for you.. smoker has a longer pull for sure also. and as Bloke said loads of guns but not so much ammo.. makes for a more intelligent choice of weapons.
For sure FYI has broke down the game very well.. some lovely touches and definitely a nice improvement on l4d1
i think its worth buying as a 4 pack to pick it up cheap.. if your not really into L4D1 then i also wouldn't bother with L4D2 it is more of the same just a bit cooler

Heh! I remember standing outside dark rooms afraid to go through the door.
But it's damn fun, so a bit light would make it more awesome. Plus the new Blood effect is really good!

As if the witch couldn't freak me out more... I got ambushed by one and actually screamed!
SHE WAS RIGHT THERE OH MY GOD WALKING IS EVIL!
That and her sobbing is even creepier now!
Topped up with killing a tank with a frying pan (normal mind you) this is AWESOME!
