the difference between MW2 and L4D's Matchmaking systems is that L4D still used dedicated servers to play on.
Granted the match making system itself caused a few headaches, but players (mostly) got onto a server that wasn't client hosted.

Apparently uk rating was bumped up to 18 due to a level where you play as a terrorist and gun down a airport full off civillians

Added - Seems like a number of console players have joined the front aka the hardcore gametype players for 'no' hardcore ffa.

Added +++ - Came across this earlier Dice must be enjoying this 'Battlefield was born on the PC, it grew up with dedicated servers and even when it left the nest and became multiplatform it remembers it's roots. We're doing the PC version of BC2 right. We won't stomach a console port tossed off to some "lesser" studio like our competitors chose to do. We've got our top PC devs working on the PC version side by side with the console team. We don't do ports. It's not the game we'd want to play, and we know it's not the game you want to play either.'
