or try adding this to yer cfg, as a temporary fix until you get your headset ffs -

// mute speakers on mic activation
alias "+mute" "volume 0; +voicerecord"
alias "-mute" "-voicerecord; volume 1"
bind "whatever" +mute

straightforward really, this mutes speakers and turns on mic on keydown, unmutes speakers and turns off mic on keyup

You dont get to hear anything when you are talking, but we dont get drowned out in feedback
