Rise of Flight (any joystick heads out there?)
Rise of Flight (any joystick heads out there?)
So Bbloke heard me grumbling about the lack of decent joystick games and he quickly recommended the following game to me.
http://riseofflight.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
It looks absolutely amazing, to be honest, and so I think I'll give it a whirl!
Only £23.99 on D2D, so I reckon I'll probably purchase it this evening.

Just wondering if anyone else be interested in such a game?

Re: Rise of Flight (any joystick heads out there?)
I may be very very tempted. Although I've packed my stick away some time ago I can always drag it back out for an airing.
From what I've read there has been a lot of work put into it. Most flight sims are only worth playing on line. Comms helps heaps.
This is the game I frequented most if not all evenings: http://store.steampowered.com/app/15320/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; well worth a tenner of anyone's money. Leanring curve's aside they are always great fun!

Hmmm, that does look good and the controls wouldn't be ridiculously difficult like all the modern flight sims.
For a tenner, perhaps I'll check it out!
Is there a single player mode?

It's worth pointing out you can get Il-2 on gog.com drm free for $10
I've been meaning to buy it for a while. I saw a video of rise of flight ages ago it looked cool.

IL2 in it's simplest form is not bad... but there are loads of keys depending on how you play. Flying fighter planes is easiest on the keys... flying bombers is the worst.
I have loads of IL2 movies over at http://il2mdb.montydan.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and a sister site managed by a firend at http://flightsimmachinima.montydan.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and the a legendary movie producer http://www.montydan.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;.
An all time fav music video: http://il2mdb.montydan.com/come-with-me" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Two films worth time to download:
http://il2mdb.montydan.com/pictures-of- ... ed-version" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
http://il2mdb.montydan.com/pictures-of-war-2" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Yes, IL2 has a single player mode. You can either set a quick mission, a few planes on a map with some weather and altitude settings or go for a pilot career. Pick a specific plane and year and see how you go. Career's aren't hard work and involve ground fire that doesn't help.
Online just makes it easy to give some helpful tips.

So do I can... I've got the dedicated server setup waiting

Re: Rise of Flight (any joystick heads out there?)
so what should I get, the biplane one or Il-2?BBloke wrote:So do I can... I've got the dedicated server setup waiting
Re: Rise of Flight (any joystick heads out there?)
Go for what you feel you'd enjoy. IL2 has a monster plane list whereas Rise of Flight is more honed in to a few. It could be the better choice
