On the first monster hunter i can't really get into using crossbows.
Just can't get enough power into them, even if you use the best ammo.

Since when did I mention crossbows? Crossbows and Heavy Bows are ok, but Standard bows are much more versatile and help teammates out a lot more if playing co-op. Just charge them before hand to shoot out multiple ones. Ranged weapons in MH are always going to be slightly weaker, but they are great for elemental attacks, status ailments and balanced power if you have the right ammo/charge the bow for long enough, all while staying out of enemy range.

I guess they would be good on co-op when you can use the recov bullets and generally help your team mates.
when you say co op is this adhoc or internet?

Well this was back on the MHP2 that I was playing (ie. adhoc only). Bow really tore things up but in saying it I never got far enough to know how it would be for "late game" ifyouknowwhatImean. I hear it got nerfed in Unite which was one of the big turn offs from it for me, along with having to go through another 10+ hours of dull practice missions before getting onto the real missions, I gave up quite fast.

EDIT: Did anyone else notice at 2:01 in the comments section of the vid. terbulus posted above, sirauronDX was one of the user names that showed up? Didn't he play on the server for a bit or am I imagining things?
