Anime is a general social taboo here in Ireland, which is one of the reasons why I drifted from it. Call it silly or cowardly but I think I'm happier now than I was before when I was really into the mainstream stuff. That's not to say I don't enjoy the odd one or two that show up here and there.
I don't like a lot of the well known anime/manga because the show ends on dragging on for up to 100+ episodes on one particular story usually which, and this is going to make me look like a prick for the fans of those shows, unless it's extremely careful, makes for a stupidly sloppy story (See Naruto, Bleach, Full Metal Alchemist etc.).
I do however enjoy the odd 10-15 episode shows like Kino no Tabi (<3) or something from Satoshi Kon or Studio Gibli which are generally good at well rounded story telling (maybe not so much from Kon, but his stuff is interesting :S).
I still play the odd Japanese/Korean game too if a good one should arise, usually the exessive ones
*On futher inspection, this guy is obviously using cheats but the typical gameplay is not far off from what you see.

Uhm, I meant MANGAS, not ANIME. I stopped watching mainstream anime because a total 70% of it is filler crap that serves absolutely no purpose. That's why I asked if anyone reads manga
I was into mainstream anime, too, but since I found http://www.onemanga.com I've been reading through 7-8 series.
On a related note, Fullmetal Alchemist makes the most sense out of the ones I've seen.
Mind you, Japan is an unknown quantity in its own, but at least the crazy is limited when it's only still pictures+captions. Add color and/or voice and you get brainrape.
