UK edition of PC Gamer is well worth a read this month. There is a long preview of L4D2, looks at Bioshock 2 and some sneek peeks at games due out this year and in 2010 - including Portal 2, Episode 3 and - Fester - ELITE 4!!!!!!!

bioshock 2 multiplayer sounds very gd, being able to wear a big daddy suit and then not being able to use plasmids, but have high endurance and damage instead.

Forgot to mention singularity (time manipulation fps) and the next Stalker. I never tried Clear Sky as all the reviews were naff - and it's only modding thats improved it. Anyone played it?

WHOA! ELITE 4???????

Seeing as my hopes for such a game currently lie with Jumpgate Evolution, I'll definitely be checking out any infor on such a game.

Oh, and in case anyoen cares, Jumpgate Evolution was supposed to be released this month, but has been pushed back indefinitely because once they got to the Friends and Family testing stage, they realised that people just weren't having enough fun with it!

I just got my copy yesterday. The changes in L4D2 do sound interesting, esecially how the director can now control various objects in the map to block off pathways and create new routes each time. Thats about the only article i have read at the moment. Although I have looked at all the pictures!

I just need to wait until i take a dump at home and i'll finish it off!

So is there much on Elite IV?

A brief search on the internet tells me that it was announced in 2001 and has been vapourware ever since.

Just that it is still in development, and might be based around the same technology and a similar storytelling technique as they used for 'The Outsider' (never heard of it myself).

It also says that they initially dismissed MMO as being to immaure for an Elite Multiverse, but having seen Eve become what it is then they might change their minds...

hmmm, well like I said, my hopes have been pinned on Jumpgate Evolution, which sounds liek exactly the type of game I'm looking (namely an arcadey space flight sim, more Wing Commander than Eve), and I was hoping to be playing it this month.

The last thing I need is to be getting excited about another game that is never going to be released (like wtf ever happend to Huxley???)

LOL Wing Commander 3 was one of my favourites! Especially the 'which one do you want to shag - good looking greasemonkey or pilot babe'. That last ship you get to fly was wicked!

I have. It's great fun if you are patient and enjoy difficult FPS games with RPG elements :F
In saying that however, it does have a lot of bugs so you have to be relatively careful with it.

It's not like Half-life either where you can run in guns-a-blazing. Picking out targets before moving in for the kill is essential and not finding cover can get you killed very quickly. It's hard alright, but not mind blowingly (unless you play on Veteran difficulty or higher).

And on the RPG side of it, its more of getting really big and accurate guns than getting experience points. The more you face, the bigger the chance of you getting a nice loot haul as a result.
You'll need to hit F5 a helluva lot though cause even on medium difficulty you will die a lot.
All in all, worth a look but very easy to understand if you don't like it.

Only a handful of mods are decent for it too.
I like zees one:
http://stalker.filefront.com/file/CSEnhanced;98820" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Fixes a lot of gamebreaking bugs or mission bugs and mainly gets rid of the stupidly bad accuracy for weapons. Doesn't make them perfect but thats a good thing ;)

Vannila accuracy is just terrible, making almost any weapon useless beyond a few feet.
CS:Enhanced makes them better, bringing them to "Challenging".

Worth a look at but might want to poke about with it first to see if you want it.
