In fairness to the Scout Update

well, we've had the update for about a week. We've all posted up what we think but I think we are missing some key points by only focusing on the scout.

Considering that the soldier, demo and spy are yet to see updates and other classes that have been updated have yet to have an unlockable inventory (Engineer obviously). I feel the scout has been done in preparation for a major change when either or both the solly and demo updates are made.

I know the dumbing down of the spy has narked most if not all of spy players (myself included) but it has also opened up some minor possibilities that may have been missed. Yes, the bonk drink is an uber indisguise but in some contrast the after effects gives the spy a little more leeway on disguising as a scout. Most of the time you would rarely see a spy as a scout. It was far too obvious to see the speed drop against a bona fide scout. With the scout updates you now see more scouts which makes spying as a scout an easier proposition.

The Solly and the demo seem to be the most used and are quite formidable on any map so any update has to retain a certain sense of balance. The scout update has obviously overstepped the mark but will it be shortlived? I think so. I also think that if the updates to the other classes doesn't right the balance then the scout could very well be dumbed down too.

I think they may have gotten rid on the sidestab because they allow you to kinda pick a weapon to disguise with, maybe they thought to give a boost to take something away.

Sorry to complain again but.. What you say is quite a fair action when you add an unlockable weapon (like the Backburner) so you can still have the choice to decide whether you accept the disadvantage (like no air compression blast) or not. But a sidestab is not something I would let go. And besides, I think reducing the backstab range was just a lazy workaround to decrease the chance of facestabs happening when players lag. Facestabs still happen anyway.

Snipers who have their backs to a wall are a bitch to stab now, well at least from my few hours playing TF2 after the update. Although I am liking the faster stabbing a lot. Disguising seems is a bit confusing now though...
