I read somewhere that MARIO_KART is a great map to learn a new class like spy or sniper because there are no goals to the map, I agree that it's a great map for the cause and that the map is buggy as heck. Hmmm maybe I can learn to snipe or spy, I had a blast the other day healing/ubering an enemy spy for a whole half hour while meleeing everyone else for a faster charge. =D

Anyone know any good maps for practicing pyro reflect? I can't find any servers that do event_rocketpong ...

I think I may have stumbled onto another tip: as a pyro its better to try to dodge a missile rather than miss a reflect - in the second case you are out of 25 ammo and health, and your enemy (if smart) will start pelting you with bullets instead - you cannot reflect those and you're health is going to go down to zero fast.

Like the ladder on Avanti between B and C - I can still only get up it every other time >_<
But that would be to do with your ping maybe?

The best map for this I found is that ctf one (bollox cant remeber the name). Its quite small. The bases are opposite each other. There is a sewer system you get to by going outthe back. It has a centre island with 2 small building things and two bridges connecting the base.

Soldiers tend to fire rockets from one opening, diagonally across the map into the other bases similar opening. This gives you loads of time to deflect it back.

Also stupid soldiers that just keep blasting rockets from miles away are easy to reflect back.

A good defence to this is to start shotgunning yourself and retreat around a corner. Or flare gun them hope you can scare them off while they burn.

A tip for reflecting rockets is that they dont have to be really near you. They have to be close but its possible to knock one back from say 4ft away. The trick is to aim where you want to shoot it and not where the rockt is. If you aim at the rocket and deflect then you'll more than likely be tracking it with your mouse which will tend to deflect it into the ground near you (as a soldier will tend to fire at your feet), which will damage you.

You need to aim back where you want it to go (eg soldiers face, or off into another enemy if you get good!!) and just hit the rmb when the rocket is near you.

Kevs other top pyro tip is to circle strafe for your life. When you surprise an enemy from around a corner it is key (even without the backburner) to get behind the enemy. They will see a flash of pyro as they start burning and will turn to fire at you. If you can keep moving around the enemy with you weapon facing them and firing then as its a constant stream of damage a kill is more likely. Also getting close makes it difficult to be hit and doea maximum fire damage.
