Radio Fester

Post by rallfo » Tue Jan 13, 2009 1:58 pm

Announcing: Radio Fester

After the bangin' success that was Jeffer's live set on Sunday, Radio Fester has launched!

Who's playing?

Jeffer and a load of mixtapes (and sometimes even me...)

It'd be great to make this a regular thing with more than just the mighty Jeffer on the lineup! (besides he has Amsterdam warehouse parties to play)

For instance I think Butterknife wanted to show off his drumming prowess and already heard Slash playing some guitar on the voice chat but the sound quality's dire... Radio Fester wants you!

If you're up for getting involved please reply to this thread!

How do I tune in?

It's the first option on the in-game radio menu - type !radio into chat (or sm_radio into the console) and press 1.

You can also click the following link http://rory.allford.net/radiofester/ (IE only)

Still a few teething problems getting it working with people's different plugins (please let me know what works/doesn't for you!).

I want to make music!

Great! :D

All you need is a computer, reasonable sound card and an internet connection with enough upstream bandwidth to handle broadcasting to the radio server (~ 256 kbps will comfortably do it) - which has over 100mbps of dedicated streaming capacity.

It's an IceCast radio station, lots of DJ software natively supports it (e.g. Traktor, Virtual DJ). If you're looking to plug a mixer / guitar amp / rolf harris wobble board into the line-in of your soundcard a good free bit of software to use is m3w (I can send you a settings file).

Whether you're the next Tiesto or a master on the Ocarina, if you're up for giving us some in-game musical accompaniment reply below and i'll pm you the specific login details.

I want to give music!

Mixtapes and recordings are greatly appreciated!

When noone's playing live the station loops a playlist, if you can somehow get a 192kbps (CBR) MP3 of your performance to me (rapidshare's a good way) I can add it.

Cheers,
Rallfo

Brilliant stuff Ralfo, its a great addition to the server. Jeffer, you're set on sunday was really good. Looking forward to hearing more of it.

I don't know if the quality is good enough but here's a drum 'n bass thingy I did a few years back while teaching myself how to use Reason. Feel free to use it if its not too sucky.

Anyone else who'd like to grab it, again feel free
Nicely done Bbloke!!

is it better quality over the radio than over the alltalk, because our musicians could give some lifesessions on the radio
