That's what I like about Amazon Germany.. send it in 2yrs later for whatever reason and always end up getting my money back. Even if the Laptop itself only has 1yr manufacturer warranty. Say what you will but those 20€ you pay extra for buying @Amazon are worth it.

the missus has a dell inspiron 6400 and the inverter had broken which i replaced. But to no avail, i think the backlight has gone, which could be a bit of a mission to fix.

A slight bit of convincing has stretched the budget to £500-£600 which is a different ballpark i know for laptops so any reccomended models keep them coming?!

check out ebay for a screen or inverter for her dell.. should have both for under €100

have a look at samsung my x460 has never let me down in daily work use for over a year

yea i've already bought a inverter n installed it but it didnt work, i think the backlight in the screen has gone but theres no way of being sure. I think i saw a screen for around that but the lappys a bit old some umming n arring about it.

i'll check out some samsungs also

Paid $200 for it brand new.

That's the very one I'm using atm Get used to the limitations and it can run laps around other computers. Certainly not a work horse however (duuuh) but great for personal use.

I have an eee 900 and it's perfect for taking notes at uni and writing up some programs etc while I'm on the train. Can plug it into my phone over USB and use the 3g connection to connect to the net, and there's wifi all over the campus

However, somewhat of a downer, both of it's hard drives have failed and I'm in the process of sending it back.
