My record with the sniper is 16 headshots, 25 total kills. That's what happens on avanti when the attacking team have no snipers :)
Speaking of avanti, it demonstrates a side-effect of a good defensive sniper. It forces people to either take your bullets or to go sniper themselves, usually preventing a few people from actually pushing the cart/point.

Before I fucked up my points thanks to achievementservers... I had a record of 37 points a sniper, don't know exactly how much kills or headshots i had, now i resetted my stats and it's around 10, because you die more with the bow :p

1 point per bodyshot kill, 2 points per headshot kill. Kind of like 2 points per backstab since it's a bit of a feat to pull one off. Anyone can bodyshot.
Huntsman/Ambassador headshot kills are 1 point, however. That alone says Valve don't think much of those 2 knockoffs ;)

I thought it changed ? In the beginning you always get 2 points per hs, then when udate came out, the rifle still gave 2pts, but the bow only 1 on a hs, now it looks like you get 1.5 points per hs witht the bow, wich means you get 3 points if you give 2 headshots, and I remember a sniper who was wining about the rifle that also gave 1.5pts / hs when the update came out, but lookes like they changed that and so on and so on... I don't know it anymore :p

Hmm and what do these points mean? HLStatx? Wow half a point difference, big deal. If you wanna collect points, go play wow.

Yes, it does seem rather strange how he headshots air, but those are recorded demos and they tend to be a bit off from what actually happened.

Watching the video now and it's very well done alright.
To be honest, I don't play Sniper very much. I always end up shooting ever-ever so slightly to the side of someones head when I shoot which annoys me too much so I stop playing :P
On the other end of the scale, I have no problem with one or two decent Snipers on a team, or at a stretch, some learning snipers and you got that right Exterm.
What I hate with a flaming passion is seeing half of my team being Snipers.

In fact, I had this problem last night on Avanti (round 1am). We were Red and had:

4 Snipers
2 Engineers
1 Spy
1 Demo (me)

All except for the Demoman (arguably) would need some Offensive classes to draw attention away from them but no one bloody changed untill the last cap!! I was fuming!
By the end, the Blu team started spawn camping simply because they forgot the Intel and no one wanted to go back for it >(
Eventually someone died and they won in record time.

But I dunno, maybe we need a Sniper & Spy class limit or something ;_;

EDIT: Or better yet, a seperate server with 24/7 Mario Kart for the guys who just want to arse around with their Sandman training and Sniper Duels :P

I hate good snipers. You know the ones. The annoying pricks who have perfect aim, never miss and can head-shot you even when your a scout about to smack them with with your bat. The sniper rifle is a long range weapon, I dont think it should be able to kill someone who is 2 feet in front of them. Maybe if the scope was blurrier when looking at close enemies.

Some snipers just ruin maps like Mach4 and 2Fort. Often it gets to a point where the middle ground is sniper zone and any player that isn't a nifty scout or an invisible spy gets instantly head-shot. Players wanting to play heavy or soldier don't last a second.


Yeah I too hate when there are more than 2 snipers on a team. The same goes for spies. I love playing as the spy but I tend not to chose it when my team already has 2 or more.



Class limits seem like a good idea to me. I think putting the limit at 2 for sniper and spy would really help for better teams.


Would this also be a nice time to ask what everyones opinion is on respawn time? I personally think games play much much better with it turned on. I find it makes attacks more planned and coordinated and players tend not to run out guns blazing if they know its gonna get them killed and they'll have to wait 10 seconds because of it.
