So I have been in the market for a few weeks for a nice lappy been a good boy over the xmas and saved up all my spare change and ordered this morning...
3 hours later I get a phone call asking me if I was happy with my new product (didn’t even receive the shipped email at this stage) then 25 min later I get another call from the same company.. "Hello sir your order has been confirmed.. as your product is shipped from manufacture not all units are tested (this scared me straight of the bat) but for a extra 69.99 UK pounds we can inspect your laptop for you before we forward it on" I replied "what tests do ye do?" "we check for dead pixels and we well not forward on a new laptop tell we are sure its 100%" I refused this option straight away and asked "surly if I am buy direct from manufacture I well get a warranty which well cover any such problems" her answer "yes"
so what the fuck did they want 69.99 for so they would open the box MAYBE find fault and I would be waiting for delivery for months
oh the funny world of customer care

lol. Some people would actually pay for that tho, God help them. Maybe if I ask them for £60 they'll just give it to me as well?

Ah that's woefully unethical, some poor non-tech savvy idiot like myself will fall for that!

Is it me or are 'new' products meant to work like they are designed to do?
I doubt Henry Ford half-heartedly threw a car together without attaching break cables just so that a company can materialise and grow in that neish(sp?) market
cunts.

That's the latest consumer trend though isn't it.
We buy products/service and forgive if they are incomplete or unfinished.
Hell we expect it. About 70% of the time i get a PC game there will be some degree of work beyond installation to get it working, purely because it was released too early or insufficiently tested.

And we deal with it!
Makes buying an xbox game and just lobbing it in the tray a pleasure sometimes.

STALKER springs to mind.
What was that game a couple of years back that they got really behind with, eventually releasing it late but without the soundtrack which was to be included in a patch?!
