Being an Englishman in a mostly Indian country a lot of weight is placed on me to understand, play and whole-heartily enjoy cricket. But, my dear Festers, my question to you is: why would anyone watch men knock a ball back and forth and run up and down a straight line?

Amazingly enough cricket has become one of the most popular sports on the face of the earth, uniting commonwealth and non commonwealth countries alike, strengthening and ruining political ties and earning a large revenue in both sponsorship and attendance. Ultimately what I'm trying to get at here is why?

I can see the appeal in one way. Sometimes slow is good. Plus how much of the interest is really sitting out in the sun all day with your mates drinking. I can get behind that.

Yeah, cricket is a game that can be enjoyed having a beer.. one of the few spectator sports that does (darts is another).. that the appeal. I still prefer baseball though.
