Seems they have forgotten the multitude of gamers for whom the mouse is still by far the best control method!
Not that I am averse to alternative control methods - but it will probbably be some time before they create something sensitive and accurate enough for FPS. I have read a few reviews of a handheld 'gun' that is attached to a sort of mouse that you move around, but its just not reliable enough according to the reviews.
Any thoughts?

The mouse is dead, LONG LIVE THE MOUSE!
I don't see anything taking over just yet to be honest. Just look at all the Nintendo, Xbox , playstation controllers there has been over the years, and still none are as good as the mouse for rts fps etc...

I skimmed the article and lost interest. Got a lot on but my thoughts are that the mouse will never disappear. As some of you know I'm a flight simmer (although not so much at the moment - spend most my free time on festers

) and everything has it's place at a certain point in time.
I have 2 joysticks. One of them with throttle and loads of buttons and the other is an FFB stick. I also have TrackIR which uses infrared to track my head movements and then translates them to my virtual head in the cockpit so I can look around the sky. The joysticks are suppose to stop me touching my keyboard and the TIR is suppose to stop me using my mouse. Neither do this 100%. I have to at some point press a key on my keyboard or use my mouse to move my virtual map to locate landscape details for navigation.
The items:
TIR
X45 Flight Stick
Evo Force
Mouse
I've been reading touchscreens are on the up but whenever I touch the screen it drives me nuts. Bloody pesky finger prints all over the place and I start nudging the monitor further and further back toward the chasm that is the drop to the ground from my desk.

The day when the majority use a Wii Remote to play an FPS on a PC is the day I die.

trackir. slap it on top of your monitor and wear a silly hat. it'll track your headmovements and translate them into ingame movements. A toy I thought about getting myself, for looking about the virtual racing cars, but for me it'd be very much a toy
