Cautionary tail from a friend of mine. She was run over in a deliberate hit-and-run incident last year, which was captured on CCTV and there were 6 eye witnesses. The resulting injuries to her foot required major reconstructive surgury and she still cannot walk far or fast.

However this is what has happened with her insurance claim (copied from MSN convo)
Vicki says:
and whats happend is ,the people handle when i got run over have called me and said that the insurers have looked at my facebook
and seen that my foot does not affect me apparently and tat im not depressed as i smile in my photos
thuse for no money
my claims been dropped from what i know
dont matter that i did get run over and i have cctv
and 6 witnesses
Ali says
how did they get on your fb?
Vicki says:
im devistated
they googled my name
they checked all my social networking sites
and taken it as gospal evidence
So word of caution: ensure all your privacy settings are set up to bar anyone from finding you.

Or my preferred option: don't have a facebook/bebo for them to trawl.
Personal life is PERSONAL.

Couldn't say it better
I use a old fashioned item called a phone for talking to people ;)

i know that FB can be used against you if you're applying for a job. used to know a guy who recruited people and he said so himself that they searched for people on FB and used it as a factor to hire them or not

if your not my friend, you dont get to see what's on my FB [and even then ive got a bunch of ppl on limited profile]

also heard a story of a girl who bitched about her work & slagged her boss off in her FB status, calling him a faggot [and he was gay btw], so he fired here over facebook. i had a screencap of it, but i cant find it at the mo :(
