Have my eye on one of those 32" HD-Ready TVs, they're relatively cheap nowadays and the pound is down so figure I'll let it be sent from the UK..
Anyone know a store with good prices?

I got my 40" TV from here http://www.laskys.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. I did quite a bit of searching and found that the comparison shop sites via a review web page did a bang up job at finding the cheapest. You just need to look for something specific.

I used this site to read up on the TV's just to make sure I was making a sound purchase. http://www.hdtvorg.co.uk/best_buy/lcd/best_buy_lcd.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I'd look at what spec you'd get for your budget and see whether it looks like it will do. It's true you do get what you pay for and paying a little extra for good sound and picture quality is well worth it. LCD's are less forgiving when viewing standard definition TV on a HDTV with a poor upscaler.

Try Pixmania Mountie, I've bought plenty of things through them before and I think they're based in France.

120hz+Full HD + 50.000 contrast = Epic Win

Those things are cool but I bet they are fragile, being so thin as they are

Lol ^^
ok, I'm aiming for the <400 Pound Price-Range, not going to be looking at Blu-Rays anytime soon =D

Am using it mainly for my Wii and DVD-Player, sound doesn't matter because I have a 5.1 system and 720p is enough because I sit 2,7m away from the telly and have a separate monitor for my PC.

Guess the only thing I should really worry about is the up-scaler. Was in the store yesterday to look at some models and they all have fantastic quality if you give them Blu-ray or PS3/X360 HDMI Signal.. don't really want my DVDs looking worse than they do now on a standard tube-tv.

If you are going to connect you dvd player directly to the LCD it´s gonna look worse than if was connected to a tube tv. Anything that isn´t 720p or 1080p looks weird on lcd´s. at least on mine.

Although I agree with what you say Devvil you can get some very good DVD players with some impressive built in upscalers than can leave Blu-Ray players playing DVD's in the shade. Another you get what you pay for scenario.

I was looking at an Oppo DVD player at around £150 for just that reason. Instead, I opted for a 5m HDMI cable and pump my PC to the TV direct.

I'd save up a bit more and try for this: http://hdtvorg.pricerunner.co.uk/pl/2-1 ... are-Prices" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; £449 - I have it's 40" brother and well worth it. It's full 1920 x 1080 instead of 1366 x 768.

I'm on the look out too, but have set my head on:

Sony KDL40W5500 coupled with a PS3 (as discussed elsewhere). The TV is £850 from a place called Richer sounds.

I looked at the LCD slim TV's - picture and TV look is really really good. However - the sound is PITIFUL so wen;t with the Sony instead.

If it's just for gaming and DVDs, I'd go with a tube TV. LCDs have a minor yet noticable motion blur to them. Plus, tube TVs are a lot more durable and lasting than their "high-tech" counterpart. Also, if you get pissed and toss your Wiimote at the TV it's gonna do a lot less damage do a tube.

Or you might want to ignore that since my family's genetic disorder to not buy something if it won't last 20 years will stop me from doing it.
