Help a hobbit out...

I've recently been contacted to make subtitles for a video series (Yeah, SERIES).
Now I have the transcript but I don't know how to make it into a subtitle file. HALP!
PS If you help alot, I'll sing you the song of your choice

Subtitle Workshop. That is all you should need. And, thanyou, no songs required

Windows movie maker has a subtitle effect.
