I don't know how things panned out in euro-land. But here in the states, around 15ish years ago, people diagnosed "being a kid" with A.D.D. (Attention Deficit Disorder, ADHD (A. D. Hyper D. in more extreme cases)) Long story short, Ritalin got handed out like candy.
I was one of the millions "diagnosed" with A.D.D. and to be honest I think Ritalin had adverse affects on my childhood, etc. (I know I'm opening up myself to a joke) But on Ritalin, I was like a zombie. I didn't want to talk, I would sit in class, or wherever, and just want to sit with my hands folded, and just be silent.

I find it funny that half the kids in america were classed as having A.D.D .. yet here in europe you only had A.D.D whne cops arressted ya more than twice as a minor..

Ritalin sounds like reefer for kids, in tablet form.

didn't the doctor who invented the term A.D.D. in the 70s turn around a few years ago and admit that he was wrong and it was probably your normal childish hyperactivity and boundless energy all along???
To be honest Corea, I'd say you were affected by the drugs they had you on, as A.D.D. is one of those things that there are no real scientific tests for and it's a judgement call on the part of your local doctor.
Why on earth that could be the basis for prescribing serious mood altering drugs to children, is beyond me!

Actually, I'm just reading a bit on Adult ADHD.
"Untreated adults with ADHD often have chaotic life-styles, may appear to be disorganized, and may rely on non-prescribed drugs and alcohol to get by."
Sounds like a normal Friday night on Fester's Place to me!

ADHD is really prolly just ADD.
And ADD is prolly just children with sugar and/or caffiene in their system.

3 words I always associate with most things child like and thats:
"blame the parents!"
It appears to me that as we grow as a society we hasten to become more and more lazy and yet strive to take on more and more things.
We have the internet, mobile phones, computers... things have changed but we just seem to want to be rushing around at break neck speeds yet when a child is doing it; it's ADD.
Well I'd have to agree with kids are just kids and all are different and most like to run and have fun. All we seem to do is stick a label on it and we are done! Well more fool us.
The worst label recently is Health and Safety. Why cant kids run off their energy at school during play time. Cos it'e been snowing and they are not allowed to go out for health and safety reasons. When the snow was down it was the best part of going to school. If you weren't throwing snowballs you were making ice slides fast enough to keep up with push bikes

but now the kids have to stay in and be "bored" because they cant fall down and hurt themselves in case the school is sued for neglect.
