I got the Orange Box on my 16th Birthday (2 years ago), and Fester's Place was one of the first TF2 servers I joined. I immediately knew that i loved the atmosphere and despite my high ping, i was home. FP has been a big part of my life since then, and i never feel right missing a friday night mashup. Even when i'm not playing TF2, i know that there will always someone from the community to play other games. If it weren't for you guys, i might actually have to get a life. I haven't been on TF2 a lot lately, but pretty soon i will have to come back to cut some skulls.

i hear ya quintus, even my canadian community i sometimes play with doesnt have the same atmosphere as FP, mainly they welcome kids with open arms *cringe*, when given the choice to play with a 200 ping on Fp or a <100 on my canadian server FP wins every time (unless its empty)

I think it is safe to say my story is bit different from others...

I have been part of the REAL clan as long as i can remember, in every game i have played with them. (CSS, Lineage2, Aion, TF2) We however, are not a competitive group or something... We are a casual LAN-group, with a minimum of 4 LAN's a year. We carry our REAL names into the games all year, cause we are proud of our LAN-group.

Throught them, i got in contact with TF2, little over a year ago. The first server we were regulars on was a german all-stockmap server that died cause of massive team stacking. It always had teamstacking, but they used to have a automatic scramble after every round, but they had to take that off, due to some update that caused the server to crash at every mapchange... After that, it wasnt fun for anyone any more on that server.

I held on to that server the longest. Some guys of the REAL-group had allready been coming over here, and dragged me with them. My first time on Festersplace (somewhere Februari this year), i didn't really like this server, because i didnt know any of the custom maps, as i had only been playing stock-maps. I did however liked the alltalk function, so in the few days after that first time i decided to give FP another shot.

The next few days i seriously had a blast, and laught my socks off. People on this server were actualy really friendly towards new-comers, that i felt at home fairly quick. The other thing that got me here was the fact that allthough the level of conversation was laughable (in a good way ), the level of play was way up there...

Also, a big part of my love for Festersplace, is the forum. I am a forum-community beast... I love active fora. I registered on the forum on the 1st of March, this year, and havent been off since...

And i love this community for letting me have a crack at the highlander compo with you all. I am the kinda guy that acts, when others just keeping talking about it. I do that with everything in life. I know i may have pushed it a bit when i stepped up to start organising when i have only been on the forum for little over a month, but i thank everyone who trusted me, and i thank the other people that gave me the benifit of the doubt. I hope i have lived up to expectations so far, and have made the doubters into believers. We can bring home the gold...


So, all i really want to say...
I have found my home. And it's a warm, chearfull, happy home.

i dare anyone to mention another community which hosts get togethers with people from across the globe, k well we havent made it across the globe but we will get there one of these years

u make a valid point lazy, but hes been living out of country for awhile, was refering more geographic then nationality for a change, we need to get either myself, quintus or dharma over for a fester fest (i think thats all our regular north/south american members) and we can say we have gone global

before you guys i never played online, bad experiances with warcraft 3 and diablo 2 put me off for life and i thought tf2 would bring the same pain those 2 did to me. i wandered around the pubs finding nothing worth staying for, only loud mouthed 12yr olds who tell you to 'fuck and die' over textchat when you get a kill on them. and then i saw this place called Festers in the server list and thought "eh, what's the worth that can happen?" i think it was the 1st place id seen insta-spawn and i know it was the 1st place with all-talk on it, and it was definately the 1st place i found where people dont just shout at each for no reason, people were actually having conversations ingame, people were *shock* enjoying themselves, & having a laugh and a great time while they played.

i remember everyone was getting ready to go to festerfest 09 and i thought that was the coolest thing ever, a bunch of guys who're friends online, but who have probs never met each other in real life before, all meeting up, id neve heard of that before. leading upto FF2010, my friends all thought i was crazy for going to foreign country to meet up with [in their words] 'a bunch of randoms' and they still think i was crazy to go, but id do it again anyday, it was 1 of the highlights of my life and i had an amazing time with my amazing friends, i only wish everyone could've been there to share the love.

and speaking of things i'd never heard of, where else can you find a karaoke bar in-game?! my friday nights [and life] have been transformed by it. id rather have a great night in with you guys shooting the shit, getting drunk and singing our faces off

I got the Orange Box somewhere late December '08. As with other games the first server my gut tells me to join, I join. I tried Fester's Place because 'Fester' reminded me of the Adams Family. Almost 2 years later I'm still here, almost no time spent on any other servers. I know I may moan a bit now and then but I genuinely enjoy my time here. The biggest bonuses are the alltalk and the Irish regulars - I honestly think the Irish accent is awesome, makes every visit like a relaxing visit to the pub. You lads will talk about anything and everything and even if I don't pitch in much (never met any of ye IRL) I'm still listening with a smile on my face.
I haven't been to the 'Dam yet, but I'll try to come next year.
@ Toco unless we have someone from the far east as a regular I don't think we'd manage that the way you want it, lol
