On the topic of pirating games, I agree with the try before you buy policy.
However I will promote pirating EAs games as much as humanly possible as they are the scum of the gaming dev world. The fucking grief i had to go through to get my legally bought copy of 2142 is fucking sick!
I bought it @ 5:30pm, brought it home, installed, went to log in, then was told my cd-key is already in use. Contacted EA they told me it was definately the retailers fault. I returned to GAME galway and voiced my annoyance @ 9.30am the following after a hard night gaming . They ignorantly refused me a refund or new copy. I then told the manager what i thought of his attitude with slight profanity(which was probably a bit heightened because of a broken front window in the shop from drunks the night before). I am supposedly banned from that store now, but still go back undercover aka without beard.
I then contacted EA again and after a bit of bickering and about €20s credit calling their retarded customercare line & being on hold for at least half an hour per call. They were defeated. I had to send them a pic of my receipt + game manual + proof of address(ESB bill) + passport.
Then finally they sent me a cd-key through email.
2 weeks later i got to play the game I payed for. Wankers!

EA are indeed scum, i had similar problems with 2142. Shame that so much about the game was great, and so much rubbish (EA downloader? Bollocks.)
On a side note i hear EA have decided to go without DRM for Sims 3, their biggest release of the year. Perhaps the backlash from the community had some effect.

Yeah, 2142 was just BF2 with new maps + skins for all vehicles and soldiers.

The thing about the Sims 3 is that its going to sell a fuck-ton of copies whether its DRM protected or not. Don't mean to stereotype people here but I imagine the majority of people who play the sims wouldn't even know what a torrent is.
