If you go up by an octave, then the frequency doubles.

And I'm guessing the 'Devil's interval' is so difficult because it is between the perfect fourth and fifth intervals?

Once, on a dark and stormy night, the ships captain said to the mate, "mate, tell us a story".

So the mate began.

Today the space industry is a big business involving billions of dollers world wide. However, things didn't start happening till after the second world war when the USA and Russia participated in the 'Space Race', each trying to be the first super power to achieve something. Russia took an early lead with the launch of 'Sputnik'.

However, did you know that the influential man responsible for much of the USA's success was in fact a German? At the end of the second world war the USA captured a man called Wernher von Braun who was the designer of the German V2 bomb, which the Germans used to fire at London from across the channel.

von Braun and some of his team surrendered to the Americans who took them back to the USA as part of their operation 'Overcast'.

10 years after the end of WW2 von Braun became an American citizen in 1955. 3 years later NASA was established by law as a reaction to the launch of Sputnik and von Braun and his team were taken to work for them. 11 years later after, they had developed the Saturn V rocket and landed the first man on the moon.

So when NASA send men into space now, just remember that their rocket 'predecessors' were raining terror down on London as little as 63 years ago...

That's exactly it. The 4th or 5th will always feel like the natural notes to go to. Therefore its extremely difficult to pitch the semitone in between them. Its also quite difficult to pitch a major 7th as its too close to the 8ve.

Picked up my bass again recently, strings are dull as hell and i shall be picking up some new ones this weekend.
I used to buy d'addario, looking for something with a slightly more mellow tone these days.
Suggestions?

No idea about the quality of their bass strings, but their acoustic guitar strings are fantastic. You do pay more, but the difference is huge.

Infidel (literally "one without faith") is an English word meaning "one who doubts or rejects central tenets of a religion or has no religious beliefs", especially in reference to Christianity or Islam.

In Christianity the term was traditionally used by the Roman Catholic Church to refer to one who did not believe in the divinity of Jesus, knowingly held beliefs that contradicted Catholic dogma, or one who had not been baptized, or by Christians in general to describe non-Christians or those perceived as enemies of Christianity, including Muslims. Current English speaking Catholic ecclesiastical usage however distinguishes between non-Christians and non-believers (persons without religious affiliations or beliefs).

The Arabic word kafir (literally the one who "covers", in the sense of hiding) is the Muslim term for an infidel. The term technically applies only to atheists and polytheists and to those who subscribe to faiths other than Christianity, Judaism and Zorastrianisms. In common use, however, the term is also applied to Christians, especially in English fiction and poetry.
