I'd say the Fester's community is very divided about the whole issue alright. Half of them are "hardc0re gam3ers" who just happen to like to listen to the other half ramble on and jerk around while they play. The said other half are incredibly laid back guys who like to mess around a bit and use the old "It's just a game".Taekwon-joe wrote: Would this also be a nice time to ask what everyones opinion is on respawn time? It gives you just enough time to strech and yell at your medic for fucking up somehow.

Nah instant respawn is one of the things that makes this server. Some fo the best times are from pure spamfests. Others are from just piling into the action. Personally as a (mainly) pyro the instant respawn really helps me as i can dish out damage on the front line for the rest of the troops to mop up.
A 10 second respawn is all well and good if you want a very competitve, balanced game. But the instaspawn makes some balanced maps a bit more challenging. Most regulars just come to the server for the idle chat and the craic of quick shoot out.

I'd disagree with you there as to kill an opponent from 2 feet away when in scope is an incredibly difficult feat due to the slightest movement from the prey taking them out of the sniper's sight.Taekwon-joe wrote: I dont think it should be able to kill someone who is 2 feet in front of them. And 10 secs is too long! Don't wanna be hanging around when there's killings to be had! And when blu does win avanti or goldrush or similar, it's so much more satisfying as the odds are so firmly stacked against them.

The argument against respawn time seems to be that people just want to have fun and get straight into the action and not have to wait. The problem I have with this is that on certain maps such as warpath you get into these bottleneck situations where neither team can move forward. Without respawn time the front line keeps being topped up with new healthy men at the same rate they are being killed. I dont know about anyone else but I find that kinda boring and monotonous. I like a game thats constantly changing not one where you end up spamming rockets down the same tunnel for most of it.

With a 16 player team it's near-impossible to kill all of them within 10 seconds and they'd be back on the front lines before you know it anyways. Those chokepoints usually don't last long if the team that has the slight advantage uses correct combination of classes (read: lots of ubers). Well there are other servers which do have respawn times, but then you're not gonna have such a good time there! I think it's just because snipers have a bad name and soldiers and demo's dont... dunno why but when I play for instance heavy, and I get headshotted in full action, it makes me more angry then when a solly kills me, and that's because you can try to kill the solly before he kills you, but with snipers... And I don't say I agree with that but people just get mad because of good snipers and so they starting to hate all snipers and so on and so on... It's a theory from Samuel Morris

It's only natural for a class to get pissed at their anti-class. I personally get real pissed at demos when they start being faggots and camp/spam the fuck out of a doorway.
