Actually they have huge sea walls in some areas to stop tsunamis, apparently not along the cost that was actually hit though. I have to say the damaged brewery was a sad, sad sight.

They are saying they've found 200-300 bodies in Sendai alone now.

If its that high already its not looking good. I suppose the fact that the quake occurred close to land didn't give them much chance to get a tsunami warning out.
