Do you use a custom config file and / or force Directx8 ? This might be a cause. Older Directx version sort of work , but there are problems with new effects introduced in the Orange Box version.

Ah Kab, I think you are overestimating my abilties as a computer user!

The only changes I have made to the version I downloaded from Steam was the Fester's cuistom Launcher and the 32 Player Scoreboard view.

Right afterwards, I logged onto the Karaoke server and my TF2 was working fine again, I'm just paranoid and would like to know why it happened....................mainly to assuage my fears that THEY are trying to hack my PC, and send me subliminal messages by having them flash up on the screen!

just one of those fun things that happens with Valve games from time to time.. Last time it happened to me i got all the walls in numbers as well as the strange model textures you got on the players

the textures, I could deal with, but wwhen Isaw soem latin sounding wording flashing on the screen, I half thought it was some kind of religious wrath I brought upon myself for my ungodly ways!

Now that I know it was a simple technical glitch, I don't see any need to make any significant "life change".
