wouldnt it be fun, just for one evening, to set sniper class limit to 0...and then spend the night playing sniper friendly maps...and record all the complaints for gits n shiggles :twisted:

played on GTOF servers on orange box map(dont rem which 1)
no snipers allowed and it was a great game
so maybe for one night?????

When a particular sniper pisses me off, I go pyro, sneak into his base, stand right up against him (front to back) and backburn him from full to 0 health in 0.5 sec flat, followed by a haughty taunt.

Go on a sniper-backstab rage.
Or a lag-crit-rocket rage. Oh yeah, use that lagnitude, pretend it's just your internet. ;)

I really don't see why they should get extra points for headshots, it doesn't make sense, as the whole point of being a sniper is to try to get headshots.

Surely the bonus for getting the headshot is the instant kill, why should they get an extra point for it too?

I have to say that this has really pissed me off for a while. It just isn't right that a player who stands in the exact same place for the entire map, and gets the same number kills as the player actively trying to win the map, would get double the points and probably one tenth of the deaths.

Just out of interest, are there any other +1 points for any other classes that might be so unfair?

Also, it might stop the situation occcuring on payload maps where the seconds are dying out and the only option the Blues have is to throw themselves at the cart to win.

There is nothing more disheartening as a blue, when rushing for the cart and you run past a load of snipers just standing there taking potshots at nothing!

It happened to me last night on Badwater where there were 4 or 5 snipers hanging around the second point being healed by medics, when we were trying to push the cart to the last point.

Actually, now that I think about it, could this kind of play be ressponsible for the lack of maps being won?

Hmm, I noticed that the team without medics or just 1 medic mostly looses against a team with 3-4 medics which are shitting ubers all the time and rolling over the other team.
Which is very boring if u are in the screwed team.

And yes, its frustrating when u trying to push further with your team and into a good ol' fojt and then being headshotted from a mile away.
That is, with good snipers around, when I play sniper its fun for everybody coz I hardly hit anything :D

Medics are the key and there are problems throughout if you analyse it often enough.

I agree with you Lazy on the "Too many snipers" scenario. A class limit vote should see how the land lies with most of the players on the at the time.

I see no skill in standing around "waiting" for someone to pass through a dot to be headshotted.

Yes, I play sniper but generally to assist the team. If only to try and distract opposing snipers or to make distanced targets easier to kill with numerous body shots. For those that laugh at lesser skilled snipers.. think again. One body shot and an alternative attack from another team player normal see the demise of your opponent. You don't tend to last long with less health ;)

As for the +1. I'm not too bother whether it stays or goes. I think it's there to make "em" feel happy about taking part and being higher up the points chart. It wasn't all that long ago when I read that most FPS games want you to make more headshots as this decreases opponent health more than hitting any other target. So in that vane... EVERYONE should be making headshots with any projectile weapon were possible.
