Re: Japan Earth Quake
google had a disclaimer up on there site not long after it happened warning surrounding areas of the tsunami warning and at least it happened mid afternoon rather then at night
Re: Japan Earth Quake
crazy shit alright, was watching it on the news in work. Absolutely manic scenes of debris flying everywhere.
My thoughts are with the poor people stuck in big high buildings feeling seasick
Gotta be absolutely terrifying

Re: Japan Earth Quake
So fucking sad for all the people affected, every country should look to japan as a inspiration, the way they have dealt with this is second to none
p.s
yesterday earthquake nuts were watching the seismic activity in the ring of fire region (earthquake programs), they were talking about the impending devastation of this earthquake because of how shallow it was, that it'd cause a tsunami. This was a live conversation on a forum in real time, I wake up amazed at how far behind the mainstream media is, today's paper their wasn't even a mention of this impending natural disaster, the power of the internet is unreal.

Re: Japan Earth Quake
NUCLEAR POWERPLANT is at risk in the moment because they have no cooling, could be that it melts and jeah, tschernobyl there...
also the death toll isnt really high for such a huge earthquake and tsunami but i fear they wont be really stable for the next year.
experts say follow up earthquakes usualy go as high as one magnitude under the first earthquake so the follow up earthquakes could be 7.5 or more

An explosion and radiation leakage has been confirmed at Japan's Fukushima 1 nuclear power plant, a day after a powerful earthquake damaged the facility's cooling system.

1155 The Japanese government has said the radiation level actually fell after the nuclear plant blast.
1150 The Fukushima plant operator has confirmed that no damge has been done to the container of the nuclear reactor, according to the Japanese government.

The japanese government reminds me of Comical Ally at the moment.
The radiation level fell...not entirely surprising considering the building disappeared.
Everything is fine.....oh but we're extending the exclusion zone.
Now they are going to pour salt water on it which means they are desperate. The salt water will corrode everything so they just want to keep it cool at any cost. What surprises me is that the reactor was not designed to cool convectively when it was shut down. It is in an earthquake zone and they don't seem to have created a system that was fail-safe in the event the reactor shutdown as designed but it's cooling failed. Cooling failure being one of the main things you'd shut a reactor down for.
On the plus side Britain's new reactors will be designed to passively cool when shut down, meaning the current ones probably don't, so we'd better hope they don't need to be shutdown due to a cooling failure.
