They should legalise it but with the usual laws in place in pubs (smoking).
I dont think someone should freely walk around town smoking it - but to be smoked in a proper and social manner away from kids etc privately...

Re: Chaaaange
I'd have no problem with the consumption being limited to certain designated places, and of course the comfort of your own home.
There are a few major differences between weed and alcohol. One, as Bbloke said, stoned people rarely, if ever, cause fights or disturbances. Obviously the same can't be said for booze. But the big one is that cannabis is in no way physically addictive.

I realised that alcohol makes you fighty and loud while weed makes you quiet and giggly. My point was that it changes your state of mind for the short term and impairs your senses. This is why I likened it to alcohol rather than tobacco and if they were to legalise it then similar laws to the alcohol ones would be needed.

Mark my words, weed will eventually be legalized. Its just a matter of when. Of course they'll bring in a set of appropriate laws (hopefully), but its just far too commonplace around people of my generation to be denied.
I used to smoke it a fair amount when I was younger, and most of my housemates smoke it daily now. I only really stopped because I'm quite lazy by nature, and smoking weed for me made 'doing nothing' sort of enjoyable. Not really what you want when you're trying to focus on getting a degree!
One of my housemates since she started smoking has turned into a lazy bum, another has been smoking it years and he writes more music per week than I can knock out in a month. It just depends on the person.
