Right now there’s some odd prices up there. Bioshock is currently £13.99. On the US Steam it’s at a mystifying $54.99. Which when bought at UK prices, with tax, would be £42.38. That’s a mysterious saving of over £28. Er, blimey. The Complete Pack for Civ IV is a whopping $59.99 for Americans. That would have been £46.21 for us. It’s £26.99 on the EU beta. Even some brand new games, like GTA 4, have notable savings. US converted price: £30.80. EU price: £26.99. And the complete publisher packs are currently insanely cheap. Fire sale prices
great for the mainlanders, but GTA for example is $49.99 and €49.99($66!!)
Call of Duty 5 is $59.99(€45), €54.99($73!!)

so the europians get screwed ?!?

as far as i can see most games come out cheaper in $ + extra VAT, than buying them in € with Vat included.

for example Left 4 Dead:

It is sold at around 45€ retail.
Amazon usually undercuts or price matches that with free shipping. Great service. Games arrive within 2-3 work days and if you pre ordered, the game will be on your doorstep on release day.
People imported it from the UK for 35€ shipped.
Steam store lists it at 49.99$, about 56 to 57$ with VAT, 42-44€
Beta Steam store lists the game at 49.99€ VAT included.

I bought my Orange-Box at Futureshop (normaly a Piece OF CRAP store, but what the hell) the whole thing cost $30 CND which u can calculate to about 20-25€ depending on Taxes and effort, dunno, worth it since I happend to get my parents to pay my holiday in Canada, but normally not worth the effort, not even if you let someone else buy, and have him pay him the shipping costs.
I mean, it's all windy stairs. I'm not being funny.
