Referendum

Post by Johnimus Prime » Thu Jun 23, 2016 8:56 am

Big day in the UK today. I have no intention on getting into a debate here - if you've made your mind up by now then there will be no changing it. My personal feeling is that problems are better solved by being involved, communicating, cooperating, and working to be part of the solution. Having met a load of you online and at the Festerfests, I can only say that I love being European. Like any system of government, it has its flaws. But the overall benefits of working and playing together far outweigh some of the silly and inward thinking arguments I've heard.

Most of all, we've all got lots in common, we are all decent people (except for the minority who try to ruin everyone elses fun) and are far more likely to get along than not.

The biggest problem is politics. Actually I'll rephrase that. The biggest problem is politicians. And dicks on the internet. Don't be a dick. And vote for better politicians.

Anything political is always going to spark a debate. Probably a heated one. I agree, it's better to be a part of the whole rather than being in a hole on your own.

I'm sure we'll all latch on to the things we feel important to us but I fear for the younger generation. I'm happy to say I want to remain. More for the kids to have something than myself and to stop the government taking us backwards.

We waited too long after the war to join. One way or another we'll find out today. At least it'll start to dwindle of the news!

Yep. England really is full of stupid cunts. Surprisingly, Wales has quite a few as well.

I'm going to New Zealand on my honeymoon. Think I'll stay there.

I think u nailed it JP.

As a half English/ half Scottish mongrel living in Spain, I think that a lot of people were looking for the wrong solution to the wrong question.
Not sure how this is supposed to make people feel more proud or patriotic.
I think it's possible that if Scotland does go then Wales would follow leaving only Northern Ireland who are dependant on Westminster remaining as part of a downsized UK.
Maybe it will even leave to a unified Ireland - who knows.

More importantly as I earn in the UK and spend in Spain - San Miguel won't be getting as much out of me for the time being.
