I don't know if anyone here is instrested in it, but I guess there will be a few!

Blender? Yup tis open source, it was originally developed by a private company and they decided to open source it a few years ago. Having little experience of commercial modelling programs I'm not the best person to compare it with them but what people have managed to do with it is pretty good.

Ah right, it says free but doesn't say for how long.

edit: downloading it now, the only requirement I noticed was you have to sign up for a newsletter.

yes I have gotten as far as recieving an email detailing how much the packages will cost plus the discount and you don't need to enter card details or adress details. So it is free!

Edit just got the serials for the 3 software packages in an e-mail.
