anyone know of any good apps for android that tell you how many miles you've done? just got 'the national cycle network' app, which has a GPS follow me setting, which i think would work, but ive just come in from a ride, so it'll be a while before i can test it out.

ive just got my bike back up and running (cost £95 to get her all fixed up :-?) and ive got myself a bike mount as well, so i can use my phone as a GPS, but that only really has road routes (and i nearly got knocked over 3 times today coming back) plus i like to head off out the cliffs on the coast 2 coast route, which adds a bit extra to the journey over the road route. i know google maps has bike routes, but it's just a map, not GPS tracking i suppose i could just buy a speedometer but if my phone can do the job (for distance anyway) then great

If anyone's interested, this is a map of the C2C http://www.c2c-guide.co.uk/the-route/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
i live somewhere between Washington and Sunderland, on the lower east side of the route (slightly south east of Newcastle). I like to follow the river all the way out to sea, (which takes me past the Sunderland afc stadium), then head north as far as i can manage before i feel like i should turn back. furthest ive got lately is only to a place called Marsden (famous for having a big rock there). i really wanna be hitting South Shields, but after 18 months of no bike, i am so out of shape :(

so yeah, tl;dr, need android gps tracker, that tracks your distance even off road

oh and obligatory bike pic (taken at s.shields, waaay back in march 2008 :shock:)

I use Endomondo and fine it good.
I usually use it for walking, but it has cycling and mountain biking, it shows the route you took, distance, time, speed and calories.
I just use the free version.

My tracks is what I use, save your maps upload to your Google maps so you can follow the same trail again. full stats of distance time speed. Great app to be fair been using it on and off for nearly two years

here is a map I made some time back

https://maps.google.ie/maps/ms?msid=213 ... 060d&msa=0" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

EDIT: That is some route to follow Dream! end of the summer the 135 miles will be no issue! :D . I am only just back on the bike mayself the last 3 weeks, had it parked for the winter but out in the morning and the evening for a short cycle with the dogs.
