Stalker (1979)

Post by SmokeDef » Wed Feb 17, 2010 11:40 pm

With all the stalker hype at the moment the actual movie 'Stalker' came up my mind again.
I am sure most of you have never seen it since most of us don't seem to speak russian.
It has never been dubbed and so you have to bare with reading ...omg reading ...

16 Parts - imdb lists the movie with 163 minutes playtime

This movie is a monument, no special effects used.
Hope you enjoy it.

Edited by me for some stupid reason!!!! BBloke

if its anything like the book then probs not, tho the book does have [mention of] aliens in it from what ive read.

i know a little bit of russian, but not enough to hold a convo with a leetal baybee tho i dont mind subs and ive never seen any of the film yet. and 1 day i want to get to Chernobyl NPP... possibly to find the giant evil rock that lives inside.

if anyone knows anything better than the 10 files you get on rapidshare, ive got the .pdf of roadside picnic if anyone wants it

EDIT: here 10 d/l's of the book, roadside picnic

and i always prefered the SEVA suit ;)

just watched the 1st 4 parts, nice how it starts with them actually having to dodge the military to get to the 3OHA [that zone in russian ], which you never see in the games. and like i said before, in the book its aliens that cause the zones [something about where they made contact with Earth, and yes there's more than 1 zone in the book], in the film its a meteor [or possibly meteors] and the game it's the Chernobly incident. nice to see so many different takes/views on what's basically the same subject matter without losing their originality

gonna try to get the rest watched tomorrow

I think it's deeper than just the zone with its wilderness and aliens or chernobyl.
It's about desire, thus the subject of the wishgranter or the wish fulfilling room.
But I have to say, I haven't read the book.

Another movie settled in such a universe was "The Lost Room" which is actually a 3 part mini series

The Lost Room was good although stumbled near the end of the 2nd show. An some what spin off from it is Warehouse 13

It's a weekday 6pm kind of show but has some neat things going for it.

A stalker movie based on the game would be really good. They based the game on a number of films and books (Wiki the game to see them all). I think the massive amount of research for the background was what made it so good

There are quite a lot of chernobyl tourist videos on youtube. I personally wouldn't go there without full gear.
