Will I be able to run BF:BC2?

Post by HitmanTJ03 » Sat Apr 17, 2010 8:49 pm

I watched the videos of the game on Steam and have decided that I want to buy this in the summer after completing my exams, for my long summer (10 weeks W00T!), however, I don't quite have the minimum requirements.

I will be getting a second GB of RAM at the same time, so that won't be a problem, but my processor is only a Genuine Intel(R) CPU 2140 @ 1.60GHz, and I'm meant to have a processor running @ 2GHz. Will the game still run on that (and well/play-ably so), or would I still need to upgrade my processor as well as my RAM?

Already done that and it says no because of RAM, CPU and CPU speed.

RAM I will be upgrading.

The CPU I believe is only unsatisfactory due to the speed, so I'm just looking at this as though it's just one issue.

I have been able to overclock in the past, however, when I had it over clocked on or over 2GHz and I tried to play Bioshock, after 10 or less minutes the computer completely froze, gave me a blue screen (not of death though, was more like "This system has failed and requires a reboot") and the rebooted.

ah, sorry bro. only other thing i can think of is to hope that someone with similar specs can play it, or to just upgrade. oldmeme posted this list of cheap-ish cpu's, which might help you if you decide to go the upgrade route

if your pc if freezing and crashing when OC'ing, i recommend not overclocking at all. what was your performance like on bioshock normally/not OC'd? even if you're running at minimum settings/resolution, it may be playable, but it may be so low quality, it might not be worth playing, you know...

im probs not the guy to ask on this, but that's my 2cents on it anyway.

Thanks Dream, Bioshock was fine before OCing, just did it to give the PC a boost over all.

Will bookmark oldmeme's list incase I end up upgrading later on down the line.

To be honest I'm used to playing on low quality graphics, as long as the FPS is reasonable I don't really care (always found pretty graphics distracted me anyway).

Well if anyone on Fester's is running a system with under 2GHz processor and playing BC2 happily then please let me know.

You probably won't be getting any particle effects or high quality textures, nor things such as antialiasing or fancy lighting... but what's your graphics card like?

(Not that it really matters, a 1.6ghz cpu is pretty ancient in today's standards - even a £300 office pc for cubicle jockeys will get you at least 2.4ghz)

http://www.staples.co.uk/technology/pcs ... ium-64-bit" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; this one even has 3gb of ddr3 memory in it!

GeForce 8800 GTS
- Video RAM - 320.0 MB
- Pixel Shader version - 3.0
- Vertex Shader version - 3.0

All over minimum specs for the game so I'm good on graphics card.

I'm only looking for minimum graphics etc in any case.
