Hey guys since Just Cause 2 actually supports no XP and I wanted to upgrade anyway, i have a question.
Are there Games on Steam or in general Programs that i might have (normal user) that dont work on the 64bit version?
Also which new gfx card should i take (i want directx 11 though) which is not too expensive but powerful enough to not be changed in half a year...?
Thank you for your very much appreaciated answers.

Windows 7 64 bit?
Re: Windows 7 64 bit?
The only games I've had trouble with on Steam was Max Payne. The internal audio format is unsupported on W7 but there is a work around to strip the audio and recode it to a supported format.. after that it's all good.
It may be worth considering dual booting XP / W7 if you think games may be an issue. Better to be able to fall back than loosing the ability to plays games you own.
I'm not clued up on DX11 gfx cards. Although I think Mug and Than are fans of the 5770.

Re: Windows 7 64 bit?
Yeah would deffo reccomend the 5770 1gig. Just put 1 in a rig(i3 530+ gigabyte h55m-usb3) I built on wednesday for a friend.
It's just like a 4870 performance wise but with added dx11 shiny. And wow it is lovely . Dirt2 looks beautiful, Metro too and BC2(Playing at full whack all 50fps+ @1024 x 768. Didn't have a bigger screen to test it on, but I'm sure it will handle 4x AA @1680x1050 or 1920x1200) of course
As far as win7 64 goes. I've had no trouble running any game except old Atomic bomberman having sme dodgy colours . I still have xp 64 installed in dualboot but have not needed it since I've installed 7. I haven't tried max payne, but I must do, Might be different as it's not the steam version.
Sorry for rant block text. Happy shopping llama

I'm runing win 7 64bit and not having any issues at all. All the old games seem fine running in 32 bit mode

Re: Windows 7 64 bit?
I'll concur on that Al. I'm running 64bit as well and only had trouble with C&C Red Alert as it was a 16 bit installer. But a patch off the net soon sorted it out and it ran fine.
