Well try this program out, Fences

I've given it a little go at work and need more time to play but it's pretty good. If you are gonna try it then dont take the auto option. Just create your own fences and drag and drop what you want into them.

I've been playing with it a little today and the hide function is great. Get all your icons into nice groups and set the groups you don't want to hide. Double click on any empty part of the desktop and only the groups you want remain. Keeps things less cluttered but accessing them is just a double click away. I'm surprised how many icons I don't use and don't really need but they are always handy.

Nice tool man, somehow it's 'fun' to me to be messing around with it. Pretty useful now, desktop looks very tidy.

just found this out. if for some reason or another, your wonderfully sorted icons get messed up, you can go to "tools > snapshot > restore snapshot" and it'll put them all back together again. has came in handy with me playing certain/older games that dont have 1080p support, and the 'hide' function means i can choose whatever wallpaper i like without having to find 1 that isnt half obscured by my wall of icons :-D

It's a very useful tool indeed. I decided to stick the bluescreen screen saver on my PC at work and it defaults the display setting to 640 x 480. Sometimes the screen doesn't restore back to what I have it to but manually changing it puts all the icons back in their rightful place.

Fences has been updated to v2. Don't download it if you have no plans on buying it as it's a 30 trial version. I decided to buy it as it was just a knacker over £6. Love the folder portal side of things.

Still a bloody good tool if you have a desktop full of icons and with the portal view you can do a load more by dumping icons in folders and letting it list them in a fence.
