back in the days we called it a "patch"

"The first L4D DLC — dubbed the L4D Survival Pack -- is due for release this spring and introduces a new multiplayer game mode entitled, Survival, plus two complete campaigns for Versus Mode ."

I guess this means we finally get Dead Air and the other coop campaign for versus. Not sure about the new gamemode, because any siege mode is more fun the more players you have. 4 is just not enough :/

I really dont like the wording of the press release, it's given me the fear that the pc edition of the dlc will cost $$$ and if so, sets a very disturbing precendent.

Why?
well cos xbox dlc costs, no way around it...m$ charges for marketplace, end of. That's why xbox TF2 patch will have everyting in one go, soo soo long after arrival on the pc, instead of the same dribs n drabs pc gets, they have to justify the expense.
Usually a game company will release dlc "exclusively" on the console and charge, then wait a month or 2 and lob out the same shit for pc for free(eg cod4 map pack), or release at the same time on console and pc and charge(eg fallout 3). Valve have never done this, yet.

A Critic's Choice Edition of the game will be heading to retail stores this spring, and will include access to all the content introduced in the L4D: Survival Pack.

Why specify that the above edition will "include access" to the pack, surely the normal retail version would "include access" if it's free?

The SDK update is also due for release this spring, and is free of charge to all owners of L4D on the PC.

Why specifically state that the SDK is free (a given) for the pc, but not state the same for the DLC?

Is it so as not to get the ire of the console owners?
Or are my concerns legitimate?
