It happens. Somebody needs to go and do something important... eat, tea or piss!!! It happens and there is little can be done about it! Right? Well maybe there is.
I've been checking my own config file for L4D and found that there is a command: sv_pausable 0
Well it does exactly what it looks like. It allows you to pause and restart a game.
I can only say this is in theory but should work in practice. Only certain folk can activate the sv_pausable. Once thats done ANY client can 'pause' or 'unpause' the game.
Is it worth trying it out? Maybe! Well there is always that problem at the beginning of a map where one has disappeared and the safe room door opens automatically and the AI Director sends in a horde. This would stop that.
Just for the sake or repeating myself. ANY client can stop or start a game. For me it has to be a concensus vote and only done when everything is clear and most are in agreement. Same goes for restarts. Of course this can only really be done on Festers (my server is already set to pausable 1)
Stop/Start a game
Re: Stop/Start a game
Nice find BBloke.
I havent played anywhere near enough of the campaigns and this would be an excellent thing to have as everyone has to pop away for a few seconds every now and then. Its either the misses wants something or thedog is hungry. Why can they open tins themselves.

Re: Stop/Start a game
No, I thought I'd post this up and see what the community want and then leave for somebody else to change so I can blame then when it goes tits up!! LOLjased10s wrote:Shouldent be a problem bbloke , did you just add sv_pausable 1 to the server cfg ?
Well, I thought if an admin was on with console access they could do it on the fly rather than have it on perminent pause that way it can't be subject to abuse. Then again they can always call a kick vote.
Re: Stop/Start a game
that sounds like a good idea. Would be good he there was a source mod for it.
