I heard a rumor about custom maps?

I heard there were coming custom maps? Or maybe it was a hack on demo or something.

But is this something we can expect in the future? Opensource maps, etc?

The development kit for L4D hasn't been released yet. Once that is out you will see a lot of custom content. I only know of a workaround to be able to play the other 2 campaigns in versus mode at the moment.
