This would be a MASSIVE change of direction for Valve.

I have faith, the 15 million people using steam and buying their games have always been treated reasonably well. Valve won't bite the hand that feeds them...they wont.

Personally, I don't believe that will charge pc users for content patches. They haven't done in the past and i would be surprised if they changed their strategy. Maintaining interest in their games with regular patches and content updates. I bet that whenever a new Class Update goes live, TF2 sales show a little spike.

I wouldn't worry about the press release. They won't have 2 separate press releases for XBOX360 and PC, so they can't explicitly say "Available for free on PC or for 2 Million MS Bucks on XBOX Marketplace".

Don't forget it was written by a guy on drugs in the marketing department. Those two campaigns for Versus are most likely Dead Air and Death toll, which were meant to be in the game on release.
