i don't really know much about this but..

is it possible to use an alternative audio object? mp3s are pretty universal.. or is the windows media one too deeply integrated into the code?

or possibly, windows media player emulation on webkit?

IIRC there is <object> and there is <embed> maybe one works where the other fails?!
