my father had to go to Tokyo after the Earthquake and Fukushima for work.
His company gave him a bottle of champagne for beeing so brave.

he experienced quite a few aftershocks around the 4-5 strongness, but Toykos skyscrapers are build on springs so nobody cares^^

i hope you dont get any, dont want the pictures to fall of the wall and break.

Screw the photos I'm more worried about our nice new tv falling over :D. A friend got a job in a skyscraper in downtown LA and before she would go into the building they had to show her the mechanical counterblaances and rollers the building sat on. I'm not exactly sure how 'Yea the building is free to roll back and forth' is comforting to somebody who is scared of a building moving and falling....

What are ye heading to vegas for Fester, poker? Tis an interesting place. I've been twice. Stayed downtown once and in the Bellagio once. I'd say I'd almost prefer downtown to the strip because the strip is really crowded although the Bellagio has nice rooms and a really good buffet with a huge frigging queue.

LOL! yeah the fact a building is moving is no extra comfort to me when an earth quake comes... bloody high winds and you would be getting sea sick :P

Ah I have seen a fair bit of the east coast and I wouldn't mind taking in some other parts of the States. My Girlfriend likes the odd bit of money down in a casino so we are considering take a look next year (if our jobs hold up) more of a sight seeing tour than anything else. My sister spent some time in LA Cali and Vegas a few years back and had a great old time so figured be worth a look! :)

Stayed in Culver City for a week once when i went to E3 at Staples.

If the weather isnt gr8 in LA i always used to drive over to Palm Springs.
Was 123 degrees there 1 time and even though im used to heat it was like climbing in an oven.

Ojai a real nice place to visit and only a short drive.

And if you are in Vegas drive through Northshore Road round lake mead.
Amazing scenary and a sporty convertible is a must.

Culver is a nice area. My wife has two sisters that live in the valleys to the north...and it apparently gets really really hot up there. That was one of my conditions: I'll only move to LA if we can avoid living in the valleys.

When we were in Vegas we decided to give Lake Meade a miss and just take it easy. My parents and sister drove to the grand canyon via the hoover dam. They said it was worth the trip. Apparently there was snow on the ground by the canyon.

Fester if you're in Vegas for more than a day or two make sure you get a cheap humidifier for your hotel room some of the chemists sell cheap portable ones you can plug a water bottle into. The air is really really dry...which isn't surprising it is a desert :D. It will mess with your sleeping, your sinuses and give ye nasty dry skin.

Sweet Flinn! your building my desire to go over for a look :) and cheers for the advice! I will buy a fecking camping shower and sleep under that! :D If/when we do go I will be hoping for winter-ish months fucked if I can deal with the heat that it can reach out there!

hadn't considered the car to rent while out there Cambo, but you have me thinking now! had a Lincoln town car when visiting the east coast. Huge fecking thing but the comfort was unreal. need something a bit more sporty for Vegas all right :)
